Hello! First thing's first, CONGRATULATIONS on you and your partner's decision to join in the constantly evolving and soul enriching journey of a married couple (I'm assuming that's why you made it to my blog)! I know for me planning started literally the instant I was engaged (okay maybe a bit before that)! I also know there were so many ideas and questions in my brain, but also I was so excited and anxious to get the planning rolling. I really hope you will be able to find a little help here, in the photos, stories, tips, and links I'll be sharing with you.
I feel like as the narrator of this blog I should introduce myself, my name is Mallory, I am a self pro claimed "free spirited city girl" growing up in the Puget Sound all my life there really was no other way to be, I always like to be having fun, and I hate being bored. I drink waaaaaay too much coffee (like I said I grew up in the Puget Sound), and I am pretty much always listening to music, singing songs and over all being totally embarrassing to my husband. My other half Kevin is the worlds nicest guy (I'm willing to battle for the title) he is a creative soul as well, he plays bass and guitar for his band and loves to teach himself nerd things like C++, he is fully supportive of my over all crazyness and we are so lucky to have found each other almost 5 years ago.
I am new brand new babe to the blogging world and by no means a "techy", so suggestions to make this a more cohesive project are more than welcome. I was inspired to start this blog after this past year of planning the wedding pretty much solo (except for my amazing mother) it was a HUGE task and I had no idea what I was doing as I hadn't even been to more than a couple weddings. I would spend hours and hours researching my ideas, trying to find "how to" instructions so I could craft things on my own and not spend too much buying things from some generic wedding supplier. This led me to wanting to compile this blog, to have some of my favorite places all in one spot for someone to have easy access to reputable sites and vendors.
I did find some AMAZING ideas and inspiration from offbeatbride, com, it's an incredible site put together for couples who want to do something inspired and different for their wedding day, I can not say enough good things about this site it is so helpful. My other favorite site was theknot.com which is a great site for finding ideas and also to buy some of the little things from they have a great store with awesome personalized options for tons of wedding goodies, but my FAVORITE part was the FREE planning tools they provide, they are invaluable!
I'll be sharing our wedding first, as it's the only real wedding content I have at thing point, but I hope you enjoy what we planned and are able to draw some inspiration from at least the idea of throwing a wedding unique to who you both are and who who are as a couple. If you have some DIY wedding content you'd like to share please email me at mallyleigheakes@gmail.com, I'd be so happy to have it to share.
